tekken

Mount is a state that Craig Marduk has had since his debut in Tekken 4 and it replaces the generic Tackle state used by other characters.

Description

In Tekken 4, Marduk could only perform four punches as opposed to the generic five performed during the Ultimate Punch, but he was given a guaranteed follow-up if he successfully performed all four punches.

To avoid this, the opponent could either block left or right with 1 or 2 respectively, but this causes the opponent to only momentarily block for that side. Alternatively, there was also a forced break on each side with 1+3 on the left and 2+4 on the right that will cause the character to both block the attack and kick Marduk off. As a counter to this, Marduk also has a reverse for the forced break that will inflict even more damage if he successfully guessed the opponent's actions.

Tekken 5 gave the attack a massive overhaul, and Marduk can only perform a single attack if he successfully enters Mount, but the attack's damage is close to a single generic throw. The mixup has changed as well as Marduk has three types of attacks:

Additionally, while in Tekken 4, Mount could target an opponent from behind, from Tekken 5 onward, attempting to hit an opponent with Mount from behind always causes them to roll over to the front.

Marduk can also enter Mount by running for 3 steps or overturning an opponent's Tackle attempt.
