Poison Arrow, also known as the One Inch Punch (寸勁 Sunkei?, lit. "Super Cùn") is a move used by Forest Law since Tekken 3. Marshall also uses the move since his return in Tekken 4.
In both Tekken Tag games, the attack is tag bufferable and is used to initiate a Great Combo when paired with Paul Phoenix.
The hit effects are identical to Jin Kazama's Demon's Paw. On a regular hit, the move simply knocks over the opponent, while on a counter hit, it sends the opponent rolling along the ground. However, if the move is tag-buffered, it causes an unrecoverable stun on hit.
In Tekken Tag Tournament, Forest Law can tag-buffer the attack but only for specific partners, and his partner will automatically use two specific attacks. One command without any additional input or an alternate command if D is held.
- King, Alex and Roger will only perform Capital Punishment even with D held, as they do not have Burning Knuckle in their movesets.
- Leaping Sidekick / Leg Slide: Bryan Fury, Heihachi Mishima, Hwoarang, Jin Kazama, Kuma II, Panda, Lee Chaolan and Lei Wulong.
- This is the only time where Lee can perform a Leaping Sidekick.
- Sliding Attack / Leg Slide: Gun Jack, Prototype Jack.
- Characters not mentioned, including mimicry characters Mokujin, Tetsujin and Unknown, cannot be tagged in during Poison Arrow.
- The remaining characters not mentioned are all coded to use the Leaping Sidekick / Leg Slide for the tag combo, except for Jack-2 who is coded to use Sliding Attack / Leg Slide, however Law's moveset is not coded to tag out to these characters during Poison Arrow.
- If a mimicry character uses this attack and tags into Paul for the Great Combo, instead of Paul tagging out, he will remain with the airborne opponent instead. Interestingly, the opponent is still treated as standing and can still be grabbed while in this state.
If a tag-buffered Poison Arrow counter-hits an airborne opponent, the tag partner's follow-up will whiff, although a Leg Slide may still connect. If a charged tag-buffered Poison Arrow connects with a back-turned opponent, the opponent will be launched instead of stunned.
Trivia
- The move is based on the one-inch punch, a punching exercise from Chinese martial arts popularized by the martial artist Bruce Lee. Its name in Chinese is the "Cunjin" (pronounced "Tch-oo-n-jeen"), with a cùn being a Chinese measurement unit that is roughly around an inch.
- Oddly, despite Kazuya Mishima, Devil, Angel, Ogre, and True Ogre having a Leaping Sidekick in their moveset as well as a tag-in attack, Law's moveset is not coded to tag out to these characters during Poison Arrow.
